Your wait is nearly over : you will soon undergo surgery for your lipedema. One of the key steps, not to be missed, is the pre-surgery shower. We will explain here how to take a shower before undergoing surgery for lipedema. Nothing complicated, but certain precautions have to be taken !
It is important to follow some guidelines for your shower, before undergoing surgery. In the first place : take one the evening before.
Use the antibacterial soap that your surgeon will have previously prescribed. You don’t have to use it on your hair or face, unless specified so. Your usual shampoo and soap will be enough, unless you have betadine scrub or another soap designed for it.
Once you’re out of the shower, use a clean towel and put on clean clothes.
It’s not over yet ! On the morning of the surgery, you will have to take another shower. On this occasion, use once again the antibacterial soap and repeat the same instructions (clean towel and clothes).
These guidelines aim to diminish the amount of germs on your skin : they can lengthen the healing process. In very rare cases, they can even be source of infection during the surgery ! That is why it is essentiel to follow some rules one how to take a shower before undergoing surgery.
